Last month we told you that we are re-launching our Visitors Centre for the 2020 season and much of the launch is focussed around a new and improved brewery tour.

We modified the tour in 2019 and thanks to a lot of hard work over the Autumn and early winter, we have perfected it further for the new season.

Highlights of the new tour include…

  • A visit to our Artefacts Room, with items dating back to 1899
  • Three new interpretive videos
  • A hands-on introduction to Batemans and its brewing methods
  • Tours of the Victorian brewhouse and the modern Theatre of Beers
  • Tastings of raw materials and the beer at stages of the brewing process
  • Each tour culminates in a tutored tasting with ample opportunity to try all the beers

The improvements amount to what we believe is now one of the best brewery tours and tutored tastings in the UK.

But you don’t have to take our word for it…
The first of the new tours was run on the last weekend in January.  You can see the reviews our new tours were attracting at the end of last season online. But just to check we were still on track we asked a couple of the visitors that enjoyed the first tour in January to give us their feedback.

The sights, the sounds and the taste…
Sharon, from Nottingham, said; ‘It’s hard to convey in words the full sensory experience we enjoyed. From handling hops, to smelling the yeast at work, to feeling the steam from the old mash tun, right through to the tasting the beer.  This is a tour unlike any others I’ve been on.’

Samma, from Manchester, added;  ‘We were excited to see how the tour had changed.  Our visit was everything the reviews had promised. We loved the memorabilia room and the up close brewery visit. We especially enjoyed the new video section on how everything worked and the staff were friendly, informative and helpful.  All in all, an excellent day out.’

Join us this season…
Batemans Brewery and its popular Visitor Centre sits on the banks of the river Steeping, in the charming village of Wainfleet, just 5 miles from Skegness.  Tours run on Saturdays, until March. Then we’ll run two tours a day, seven days a week from 3rd April until October.

Demand was such that we’ve introduced an online booking system so you can plan your day from the comfort of your armchair.
