Pubs and Brewers play an important part in our communities and economy, but now more than ever, they are under serious threat and desperate need your support by backing Long Live the Local Pub campaign.

As well as most breweries and pubs taking very little, if any, income for three months during lockdown there is a further tax burden that has to be faced

“£1 in every £3 spent in a pub goes to the taxman, now is the time to reinvest that money in our pubs and brewers so they can survive the immediate term and help drive the economic The sector really needs a significant cut to our punitively high beer duty rate. Beer Duty in the UK is three times higher than the EU average and eleven times higher than in countries such as Germany and Spain. In addition, we need a fundamental reform of the business rates system whereby pubs pay 2.8% of the business rates bill, despite accounting for just 0.5% of turnover. An extension on the current business rates holiday for pubs beyond March 2021 is vital ahead of major reform’’
