Support our local pubs against budget increases
You will have read in the press that Boris Johnson and his team have announced the strong possibility of bringing forward the Budget to September. If Mr Johnson becomes Prime Minister and goes ahead with this, it is likely the Budget could be as early as either Wednesday 4th or 11th September, between the return from Summer Recess (3rd September) and ahead of Conference Recess (12th September).
A campaign is now underway to support our pubs and petition against a rise in beer duty, as planned for 2019. At present, 1 in every 3 pounds spent in a pub goes to the taxman – if the duty is increased this will no doubt lead to further pubs closing. We would like to ask you to support us by signing the petition against further duty increases.
