Training Case Studies
I attended a very well run and informative training course at the brewery's visitors centre on the 12th and 13th April, it was allot to take in in 2 days but great value for money considering the savings you could make with the help and information passed on by the training team at Batemans and their associates. If you... run a pub or any bar/restaurant this course would greatly benefit you.![]()

If there's one thing I have learnt, this course is one for everyone who works in the pub industry. I've learnt so much. Thank you David and Judy for the great food and company on Monday evening.![]()

I have recently been on a course with Batemans which was on Running a Pub Successfully. I found this course extremely good for many reasons which I will explain.
Firstly it gets you away from your busy environment, which actually stops you from going crazy.
It's good to have a break from time to time. You also meet other publicans with whom you have lots in common, lots to compare, swap ideas with and also relax with.
The course itself is run by the guys who are always on the end of the phone or email, which makes it more inviting to attend. Rob said they aren't professional trainers but at the same time they all know what they are talking about and what each other is talking about and/or demonstrating.
This is great practise for all parties. I myself got a great deal out of this course. I found out that I am not actually doing anything wrong in the Black Bull but there is room for improvement in some areas of the business, which I intend to do in time. It will benefit me, my partner Paul and my staff, which I will pass on to. I really enjoyed the two day course and I feel it was beneficial to all of us. I am looking forward to doing more courses with Batemans. It was interesting, fun and well worth attending. Thank you. ![]()

On Friday 17th July 2009, a number of Environmental Health Officers from South Holland District Council, East Lindsey District Council and Boston Borough Council visited your Brewery for a Quality Counts training day, run by David Philips. The day was really interesting for all officers concerned and provided officers with an understanding of what exactly Batemans expects of its tenants. Rest assured that our officers will be looking to ensure that issues raised on the day, along with our own legislative requirements, are being met when we visit your pubs for Food Safety or Health and Safety inspections.
"David Philips did a sterling job ensuring that, despite the rain, our group was well catered for in all aspects. He even managed to keep going throughout a particularly loud thunderstorm, which tripped the electrics, causing the powerpoint projector to turn off on numerous occasions. However, throughout he maintained a sense of humour and purpose and engaged with all officers, providing useful advice and witty anecdotes.
"Praise should also go to the staff who provided the lunch, which proved to be wholesome and tasty, in fitting with the Batemans style. We have already recommended the venue to colleagues and look forward to returning again in the future. ![]()

As an independent training provider with many clients throughout the UK, I can honestly say that the culture, ethos and support that Batemans Brewery provides its licensees with matches any other organisation in the UK. Above all they listen and respond well to their licensees' comments and concerns and are well placed to face the challenges currently facing the industry.![]()

The Kurnia Group operates six bars and has a training company mainly dealing with BIIAB qualifications. We use Batemans to train our employees in cellar management and recommend clients enquiring about the ABCQ to use Batemans. Our managers have also attended the Batemans 'Running a Pub Successfully' course. This course was developed bv Batemans initially for their tenants and is a two day course offered free, to all existing and prospective tenants of George Bateman & Son and covers all aspects of running a pub. We feel that the content of the course covers all areas and is a great aid to those who take the course. We feel that the qualifications delivered by George Bateman & Son Ltd offer existing and prospective tenants valuable support and knowledge. ![]()
