The Recruitment Process

 

Manager

Before signing your contract of employment with us as a Manager you will need to have done the following:

1.    Visited the pub and the competition

2.    Developed a business plan to illustrate how you will drive the business forward

3.    Made a formal application detailing why you are interested and why you are the best candidate for the job including your experience

4.    You will then be interviewed by members of the Retail Team

5.    You will be asked for two referees

6.    You will undergo a period of training including attendance on our Running a Pub Successfully course

 

Tenancy 

Before signing a Tenancy Agreement with us we ask that the relevant interviews have taken place with our Profit Partnership team, you have visited the pub and local competition on a number of occasions and have constructed an appropriate business plan.

 

As well as having familiarised yourself with the Bateman’s Tenancy Agreements and established with us which is the most appropriate, you will also need to agree that you are happy and fully understand the industry's Tenanted Code of Practice (1 - 499 Tied Pubs).

 

You will need to have discussed our own Pre-Entry Awareness Training module with the Retail Area Manager, having already viewed the ‘Introduction to Profit Partnership presentation’. It is an industry requirement that you partake in the online industry Pre-Entry Awareness Training module. All of these steps will help to ensure that you are completely confident about taking on the tenancy and understand entirely, the part you and we play in the Profit Partnership arrangement.

 

To help you develop the business at the pub you will need to sit the two day Running a Pub Successfully course at the Brewery for which there is no charge, except for food and accommodation.

 

Before confirming your desire to take on any particular pub we will have provided you with a copy of the Tenancy Agreement, Tenanted Code of Practice (1-499 Tied Pubs), Terms and Conditions, our price list, the insurance responsibilities, the repair and maintenance responsibilities and any restriction on the use of the premises and/or the licence. We will also inform you, to the best of our knowledge, of any future events, such as changes in the local infrastructure or development to competing leisure establishments, which might have an adverse effect on the future trading.

 

You will need to provide evidence to us of your credit worthiness that you hold a personal licence and that the police would not have any objection to you operating the pub. We also need details of references we can follow up. Take a look at our graphic to see each step of the process!

 Pub Operator 

Before signing a Pub Operator Agreement with us we ask that you have visited the pub and local competition on a number of occasions and have constructed an appropriate business plan. You will then be invited to a series of interviews before being offered a pub.

 

You will need to have discussed our own Pre-Entry Awareness Training module with the Retail Area Manager, and carry out the online
Pre-Entry Awareness Training Module as this is an industry requirement.

 

Before accepting the offer we will have provided you with a copy of the Pub Operator Agreement, Batemans POA Code of Practice, Terms and Conditions, the insurance responsibilities, the repair and maintenance responsibilities and any restriction on the use of the premises and/or the licence. We will also inform you, to the best of our knowledge, of any future events, such as changes in the local infrastructure or development to competing leisure establishments, which might have an adverse effect on the future trading. You will be required to provide evidence of having taken independent financial advice during the development of your business plan as this forms part of the agreement. You will be asked to sign to confirm that you understand the code of practice and will be given training to enable you to familiarise yourself with the operating procedures we comply with.

 

You will need to provide evidence to us of your credit worthiness that you hold a personal licence and that the police would not have any objection to you operating the pub. We also need details of references we can follow up. You will be asked to sign a guarantor certificate. Take a look at our graphic to see each step of the process!
