The attractive village of Willoughby has just over 400 residents and is historically known as the birthplace of Captain John Smith, the famous 17th century explorer of North America. There is a pre-school and primary school, together with a petrol station with a small shop. Alongside this there’s a regular bus service which runs through to Mablethorpe. Opposite the pub is the large village green, village hall and Bowling Green. The current tenants in the pub also operate the bar in the village hall.

 

Brief description of the present trading environment

The Willoughby Arms is the heart of village life and also attracts diners from other local villages. The traditional bar with open fire has a darts board and 24 covers. The dining room is very well presented and accommodates 24 diners. There is also a small relaxing lounge with TV and sofas. There is a well maintained beer garden with sheltered seating and a car park for approximately 30 cars. The kitchen is fully equipped with adequate storage and preparation area. Many local clubs use the Willoughby, with the Pigeon Club having their marking station in the pub car park.
